Third Quarter 2021 Catastrophe Losses

FedNat Holding Company (the “Company”) estimates, as of the date of this Current Report on Form 8-K, that catastrophe weather losses incurred during the quarter ended September 30, 2021, will reduce its third quarter net income by approximately $20 million, net of all reinsurance recoveries and affiliated fees, on both a pre-tax and after-tax basis. Catastrophe weather losses in the quarter were driven by Hurricane Ida and other smaller named-storm events including Elsa, Fred and Nicholas, impacting Louisiana, Florida and Texas. The Company expects to incur $37 million of net retained weather claims within the insurance subsidiaries, partially offset by earnings of $17 million from related claims handling and other revenues in affiliated entities related to these third quarter catastrophe weather events.
