(1) Foreign exchange gains and losses result from changes in exchange rates primarily related to our U.S. dollar denominated cash and debt balances that are held by our Canadian subsidiary.

(2) The 2019 gain on sale of timberlands relates to the sale of our Michigan timberlands during fourth quarter 2019. The 2017 amount relates to 100,000 acres sold to Twin Creeks during fourth quarter 2017.
