Goodwill

Lexicon recorded goodwill from previous acquisitions prior to 2011 of $44.5 million, representing the excess of purchase price over the fair value of the underlying net identifiable assets including the effects of deferred taxes. Goodwill is not subject to amortization, but is tested at least annually on its assessment date for impairment at the reporting unit level, which is the Company’s single operating segment. There was no impairment of goodwill in 2023, 2022 or 2021.
