Item 5.02 Departure of Directors or Principal Officers; Election of Directors; Appointment of Principal Officers.
Hastings Entertainment, Inc. announces that Phil McConnell, age 43, joined the company as Vice President of Product, effective June 12, 2006. Mr. McConnell will report directly to Michael Rigby, Senior Vice President of Merchandising. Mr. McConnell most recently served for nine years as Vice President of Merchandising, VMI Services for Alliance Entertainment Corporation (AEC), the largest wholesale distributor of prerecorded music and movies in the nation. Previously, Mr. McConnell served in senior merchandising positions with Best Buy and Circuit City.
Mr. McConnell’s employment will be at-will. He will receive a base salary of $150,000 per year and will be eligible for an annual bonus ranging from 11% to 40% of base salary.
Mr. McConnell will receive stock option grants of 10,000.
