(NYSE: TDR - News) announced today that its Board of Directors unanimously --- ---- elected Carl Carlson, former Chief Operating Officer, as its CEO. Mr. Carlson's election was effective as of October 30, 2003. Carlson succeeds Arturo Pellerano, who stepped down from his position as Chief Executive Officer. The Company plans no changes in strategy or operations and does not plan to immediately fill the Chief Operating Officer position. Carlson, 45, one of the original founders of the Company, first joined Tricom in 1989. During this tenure, Carlson has held a number of posts, including Vice President of Finance and Administration and Chief Financial Officer. He has been a member of the Company's board of directors since 2000. In 1998, he was appointed Chief Operating Officer, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Company.
