In accordance with articles 9 and 10 of Securities Market Law No. 18,045 and General Rule No. 30, under due authorization of the Board of Directors of LAN Airlines S.A. (“LAN”), Securities Registration No. 306, please be advised of the following MATERIAL EVENT:

Today LAN has made a purchase agreement with The Boeing Company for the acquisition of three (3) Boeing 767-316ER aircraft scheduled for delivery in July, August and September 2012.  The investment will total approximately US$510,000,000 (list price).

The purchase of these aircraft is part of the long-term strategic fleet plan of Lan Airlines S.A.
