Item 5.02         Departure of Directors or Certain Officers; Election of Directors; Appointment of Certain Officers; Compensatory Arrangements of Certain Officers.
 
Retirement of Director. Mercantile Bank Corporation announced today that Edward J. Clark retired from the Board of Directors of Mercantile Bank Corporation and that of its subsidiary, Mercantile Bank of Michigan, effective March 31, 2021. Mr. Clark has served as a member of our Board of Directors since 1998. Mr. Clark’s retirement is not a result of a disagreement on any matter relating to Mercantile’s operations, policies or practices.
