On October 29, 2004, V.I. Technologies, Inc. (“Vitex” or “the Company”) announced that it adjourned its special meeting of shareholders which was being held to vote on proposals related to the Company’s proposed merger with Panacos Pharmaceuticals. A date to reconvene the special shareholders meeting has not been scheduled. Vitex reported that it is involved in negotiations with Panacos concerning modifications of the merger agreement. Until these merger-related terms are resolved, Vitex and Panacos have deferred consideration of financing proposals.

Vitex Provides Update on Merger Status

 

Watertown, MA (October 29, 2004) — V.I. Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: VITX) (“Vitex” or “the Company”), a biotechnology company dedicated to developing the next generation of anti-infective products, announced today that it adjourned its special meeting of shareholders which was being held to vote on proposals related to the Company’s proposed merger with Panacos Pharmaceuticals. A date to reconvene the special shareholders meeting has not been scheduled. Vitex reported that it is involved in negotiations with Panacos concerning modifications of the merger agreement. Until these merger-related terms are resolved, Vitex and Panacos have deferred consideration of financing proposals.
