QWEST COMMUNICATIONS ANNOUNCES OFFERING OF
$1.75 BILLION SENIOR DEBT SECURITIES

DENVER, January 29, 2004 — Qwest Communications International Inc. (NYSE: Q) announced today that it is offering an expected $1.75 billion aggregate principal amount of senior debt securities in a private placement to be conducted pursuant to Rule 144A under the Securities Act of 1933, as amended. The net proceeds of the offering will be used for general corporate purposes, including repayment of indebtedness.
