MERCHANDISE INVENTORIES	MERCHANDISE INVENTORIES At both January 29, 2022 and July 31, 2021, approximately 62% of merchandise inventories are valued by the LIFO method while the balance is valued by FIFO. If the FIFO method had been used for the entire inventory, inventories would have been $15,842 and $15,321 higher than reported at January 29, 2022 and July 31, 2021, respectively.
