MERCHANDISE INVENTORIES	MERCHANDISE INVENTORIES At both April 29, 2017 and July 30, 2016, approximately 64% of merchandise inventories are valued by the LIFO method while the balance is valued by FIFO. If the FIFO method had been used for the entire inventory, inventories would have been $14,622 and $14,522 higher than reported at April 29, 2017 and July 30, 2016, respectively.
