MERCHANDISE INVENTORIES	MERCHANDISE INVENTORIES At both January 23, 2016 and July 25, 2015, approximately 65% of merchandise inventories are valued by the LIFO method while the balance is valued by FIFO. If the FIFO method had been used for the entire inventory, inventories would have been $14,893 and $14,693 higher than reported at January 23, 2016 and July 25, 2015, respectively.
