Summary of Significant Accounting Policies Summary of Significant Accounting Policies
Basis of Presentation
The accompanying unaudited interim consolidated financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the accounting policies described in the consolidated financial statements and related notes included in our annual report on Form 10-K for the year ended December 31, 2022 ("2022 Form 10-K") and should be read in conjunction with such consolidated financial statements and related notes. The 2022 year end consolidated balance sheet data included in this Form 10-Q filing was derived from the audited consolidated financial statements in our 2022 Form 10-K, but does not include all disclosures required by accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America ("GAAP"). The following notes to these interim consolidated financial statements highlight significant changes to the notes included in the December 31, 2022 audited consolidated financial statements included in our 2022 Form 10-K and present interim disclosures as required by the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Use of Estimates
In order to conform with GAAP, in preparation of our consolidated financial statements we are required to make estimates and assumptions that affect the reported amounts of assets and liabilities and disclosure of contingent assets and liabilities as of March 31, 2023 and December 31, 2022, and the reported amounts of revenues and expenses for the three months ended March 31, 2023 and 2022. Actual results could differ from those estimates. In our opinion, the accompanying unaudited interim consolidated financial statements reflect all adjustments necessary for a fair statement of our financial position as of March 31, 2023 and December 31, 2022, the results of our operations and comprehensive income for each of the three months ended March 31, 2023 and 2022, and our cash flows for each of the three months ended March 31, 2023 and 2022. All adjustments are of a normal recurring nature.
Recent Accounting Pronouncements
In March 2020, the Financial Accounting Standards Board ("FASB") issued Accounting Standards Update (“ASU”) No. 2020-04 Reference Rate Reform (Topic 848). ASU 2020-04 contains practical expedients for reference rate reform-related activities that impact debt, leases, derivatives and other contracts. The guidance in ASU 2020-04 is optional and may be elected over time as reference rate reform activities occur. The Company elected to apply the hedge accounting expedients related to probability and the assessments of effectiveness for future LIBOR-indexed cash flows to assume that the index upon which future hedged transactions will be based matches the index on the corresponding derivatives. Application of these expedients preserves the presentation of derivatives consistent with past presentation. The Company continues to evaluate the impact of the guidance and may apply other elections as applicable as additional changes in the market occur.
Reclassifications
Deferred Leasing Intangibles, Net as of December 31, 2022 have been reclassified to the Prepaid Expenses and Other Assets, Net line item and to the Accounts Payable, Accrued Expenses and Other Liabilities line item in the consolidated balance sheets to conform to the 2023 presentation. Joint Venture Fees for the three months ended March 31, 2022 has been reclassified from the Other Revenue line item in the consolidated statements of operations to conform to the 2023 presentation.
