The changes in the fair value of derivatives designated and that qualify as cash flow hedges is recorded in other comprehensive income and is subsequently reclassified to earnings through interest expense over the life of the derivative or over the life of the debt. In the next 12 months, we expect to amortize approximately $391 into net income by increasing interest expense for derivative instruments we settled in previous periods. Additionally, recurring settlement amounts on the 2014 Swaps and 2015 Swaps (as defined in Note 10) will also be reclassified to net income.
