February comparable store sales increased 1% compared with the four-week period ended March 1, 2003. The Company said that based on February's results, it is comfortable with the first quarter EPS consensus estimates, which have recently increased to $0.27 per diluted share. Abercrombie & Fitch operated a total of 703 stores at the end of February, including 171 abercrombie stores and 175 Hollister Co. stores.
