Item 8.01. Other Events

At a meeting of the Board of Directors of United Fire Group, Inc. (the "Company" or "UFG") held on August 19, 2016, the directors declared a $0.25 per share quarterly cash dividend, which will be paid September 15, 2016 to common stock shareholders of record as of September 1, 2016. A copy of the Company’s related press release is attached as Exhibit 99.1 to this Current Report on Form 8-K.

United Fire Group, Inc. Declares a Common Stock Quarterly Cash Dividend of $0.25 per Share

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA – August 19, 2016 – Today, the Board of Directors of United Fire Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: UFCS) ("UFG") declared a common stock quarterly cash dividend of $0.25 per share. This dividend will be payable September 15, 2016, to shareholders of record as of September 1, 2016.
