COOLBRANDS ANNOUNCES RESIGNATION OF

ROMEO DEGASPERIS AS DIRECTOR

Toronto, Canada, August 15, 2006 - CoolBrands International Inc. (TSX: COB.SV.A) today announced that Romeo DeGasperis has resigned from the Board of Directors. Mr. DeGasperis stated his reasons for his departure from the Company are due to his health.

Speaking on behalf of the Board, David J. Stein, Co-Chairman, President and CEO of CoolBrands, said, “The Company wishes Mr. DeGasperis and his family the best and thanks him for all his years of service to the Company.”

Mr. Robert E. Baker will fill the vacancy on the Company’s Audit Committee created by Mr. DeGasperis’ departure from the Board.
