ITEM 5.02 Departure of Directors or Principal Officers; Election of Directors; Appointment of Principal Officers.

On June 5, 2007, Capital Corp of the West (NASDAQ:NMS:CCOW) announced the appointment of Donald T. Briggs to the Capital Corp of the West Board of Directors. Mr. Briggs’ appointment fills a vacancy on the Company’s Board due to the retirement of outgoing Director Tom A.G. Van Groningen. Mr. Briggs is currently a member of County Bank’s Board of Directors and has served in that capacity since May 2006. For more information related to this event, please see a copy of the press release as it appears in Exhibit 99.1 to this current report and is incorporated herein by reference.
