Mountain Province Diamonds Announces Appointment of Chief Financial Officer

TORONTO and NEW YORK, Feb. 3, 2017 /CNW/ - Mountain Province Diamonds Inc. ("Mountain Province", the "Company") (TSX and NASDAQ: MPVD) is pleased to announce the appointment of Perry Ing to the position of Chief Financial Officer effective February 6, 2017.

Mr. Ing's previous positions include Chief Financial Officer of Kirkland Lake Gold (2015 - 2016), Chief Financial Officer of McEwen Mining (2008 - 2015), Consultant to Barrick Gold (2005 - 2008) and Corporate Controller of Goldcorp (2003 - 2005).

"We are pleased to welcome Perry to Mountain Province Diamonds as the Company transitions from mine development to operations", said President and CEO Patrick Evans. "Perry has demonstrated strong financial management and leadership skills in key positions at a number of operating mining companies."

Mr. Ing is a graduate of the University of Toronto (B. Comm.), a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA), a Certified Public Accountant (Illinois) and a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Mountain Province Diamonds is a 49% participant with De Beers Canada in the Gahcho Kué diamond mine located in Canada's Northwest Territories. Gahcho Kué consists of a cluster of four diamondiferous kimberlites, three of which have a probable mineral reserve of 34.88 million tonnes grading 1.57 carats per tonne for total diamond content of 54.64 million carats.

Gahcho Kué is the world's largest and highest grade new diamond mine. A 2014 NI 43-101 feasibility study report filed by Mountain Province (available on SEDAR) indicates that the Gahcho Kué project has an IRR of 32.6%.
