14. Restructuring Charges

During the first quarter of fiscal 2015, Intevac substantially completed implementation of the 2015 cost reduction plan (the “2015 Plan”), which reduced expenses and reduced its workforce by 3 percent. The cost of implementing the 2015 Plan was reported under cost of net revenues and operating expenses in the consolidated statements of operations. Substantially all cash outlays in connection with the 2015 Plan occurred in the first quarter of fiscal 2015. Implementation of the 2015 Plan reduced salary, wages and other employee-related expenses by approximately $1.4 million on an annual basis.

During the first half of fiscal 2014, Intevac substantially completed implementation of the 2014 cost reduction plan (the “2014 Plan”), which reduced expenses and reduced its workforce by 6 percent. The cost of implementing the 2014 Plan was reported under cost of net revenues and operating expenses in the consolidated statements of operations. Substantially all cash outlays in connection with the 2014 Plan occurred in the first half of fiscal 2014. Implementation of the 2014 Plan reduced salary, wages and other employee-related expenses by approximately $2.1 million on an annual basis.

As of December 31, 2016, activities related to the 2015 and 2014 Plans were complete.
