6. Inventories

Inventories consist of the following (in thousands):

Inventory obsolescence expense for the three and six months ended March 31, 2024 was $0.1 million and $0.1 million, respectively.  Inventory obsolescence expense for the three and six months ended March 31, 2023 was $0.5 million and $1.8 million, respectively.  Raw materials include semi-finished goods and component parts that totaled approximately $8.1 million and $10.6 million at March 31, 2024 and September 30, 2023, respectively.
