6. Inventories

Inventories consist of the following (in thousands):

Inventory obsolescence expense was $20,000 and $1.4 million for the three months ended December 31, 2023 and 2022. Raw materials include semi-finished goods and component parts that totaled approximately $9.9 million and $10.6 million at December 31, 2023 and September 30, 2023, respectively.
