Custody of Investment Company Assets Outside the United States

The Commission is proposing rule amendments and a new rule under the Investment Company Act to address the custody of investment company assets outside the United States. The amendments and new rule would establish new standards governing the maintenance of an investment company's assets with a foreign securities depository. The proposals are designed to provide a workable framework under which an investment company can protect its assets while maintaining them with a foreign securities depository.
