The SEC’s Office of Investor Education and Advocacy shares extensive materials to help people understand how to invest wisely and avoid fraud. It manages the SEC’s Investor.gov website that contains a wealth of useful information to help first-time or experienced investors alike.  

The SEC’s investor education program produces Investor Alerts and Bulletins to warn investors about particular scams or risky products trending in the marketplace. Investor assistance staff handle investment-related complaints and questions from tens of thousands of individual investors and others every year.
