SEC Advisory Committee on Smaller Public Companies Plans Public Telephone Conference Meeting

Washington, D.C., April 10, 2006 - The Securities and Exchange Commission Advisory Committee on Smaller Public Companies has announced plans for a public telephone conference meeting on Wednesday, April 12, 2006, at 10:00 A.M., E.D.T. The purpose of the meeting is to further consider the draft of the Advisory Committee's final report.

Members of the public may take part in the meeting by listening to the Webcast accessible on the Commission's Web site at www.sec.gov or by calling (800) 260-0718 and using code number 823292. The discussion materials for the meeting are available on the SEC's Web site at http://www.sec.gov/info/smallbus/acspc.shtml.

The agenda for the meeting includes five items.

  • Opening remarks
  • Discussion of events since last meeting of Feb. 21, 2006
  • Discussion of comments received on Exposure Draft of Committee's final report
  • Review of Discussion Draft of final report dated April 10, 2006
  • Discussion of next steps

The Advisory Committee was established by the SEC to examine the impact of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 and other federal securities laws on smaller companies. The Committee is required to present its final report to the Commission by April 23, 2006. The Committee plans to have its final meeting at the Commission's Washington, D.C., headquarters on April 20, 2006, at 10:00 A.M., E.D.T.
